Help the Needy in Gunter
Feed the Need is a community project designed to help provide non-perishable items to needy Gunter residents. With the population of Gunter expanding, so is the need to help those who find themselves in desperate situations.
From October 14th to November 10th, businesses throughout Gunter will have boxes where the community can drop off canned goods. A collective community drop off will also take place on Saturday, November 10th at the old Elementary Gym parking lot. All food will be collected in Gunter and will stay in Gunter. Food will be distributed during the holiday season to Gunter residents who are in need.
Can you help? Sure you can! Bring your non-perishable items to any one of the drop off stations before November 10th or stock up and bring them to the old Elementary gym parking lot on Saturday, November 10th from 8am to 12 noon. About Us
Keelie Ferguson has been a Gunter resident for 16 years. Growing up in this small town has led Keelie to develop a deep love of community and relationships. Making sure that no one family or person is left out of that community due to life circumstances has become an increasing desire in Keelie's life. She is confident that the community of Gunter can work together to attend to the vast and varying needs of its residents so that each one is empowered to live the most successful and fullfililng life possible. Keelie feels that "Feed the Need" is a step in the right direction.
Gina Stinson was raised just outside of metro Atlanta, Georgia. From her early teens she began working with the underprivleged and unloved by developing "everyday" relationships. Since then she has consistantly been involved in helping to offer hope to those who want to improve their life but lack the resources. She helped to organize a local community food pantry in a small town in southeast Texas, that has serviced hurricane victims and local residents for the past 4 years. Gunter, Texas is her new home and while the faces in her life have changed, her passion for helping those around her remains the same. "Feed the Need" meets a physical, obvious, essential need in the Gunter community and Gina hopes that this will be the first of many community projects that benefit her neighbors.
